Dr. Mina Youhana: Poverty is a Silent Crime Threatening the Dignity of Humanity, and Government Inaction is a Stain on the Conscience of the World

The Global Conscience for Human Rights, headed by Dr. Mina Youhana Youssef, has issued a strong and urgent statement warning of the alarming spread of poverty, hunger, and marginalization across many countries, stressing that this ongoing crisis represents a blatant insult to human dignity and an unacceptable failure of the international community.
The organization highlighted shocking global figures showing that nearly 700 million people live in extreme poverty, surviving on less than $2.15 per day, while half of the world’s population lives on under $6.85 daily, amid an unprecedented widening gap between the rich and the poor.
Dr. Mina Youhana Youssef stated that poverty is no longer merely an economic issue but has become a global crime of silence against humanity, noting that millions of families across Asia, Africa, and Latin America are left abandoned without protection, justice, or the basic right to live with dignity.
He called upon world leaders and policymakers — including the United Nations, the European Union, the African Union, and the League of Arab States — to take urgent and concrete actions beyond promises and statements, to restore human dignity and ensure the right to safe and decent living for all.
Dr. Mina Youhana concluded by saying:
“The time has come for the world to realize that poverty is not destiny but the result of failed policies. It is our human and moral duty to break the silence and restore the value of humanity before the conscience of the world is lost.”
